Free AI detector for research papers

PaperCheck checks a whole research paper for AI-written text for free: 5 checks a month, up to 20,000 words each, from Word or PDF, with every flagged sentence marked and a plagiarism check in the same report.

Why research papers need a different checker

Most free detectors take a few hundred pasted words and give one number. A paper has an abstract, methods, results and references, and the parts that matter are spread through it. Checking the whole file shows where the AI-like writing is.

What you get free

  1. An AI percentage for the whole paper.
  2. Every flagged sentence, with the reason.
  3. Copied phrases of eight or more words, with the source, from the papers you cite plus arXiv, Wikipedia, Europe PMC and OpenAlex.
  4. An email when the check is done.

How accurate it is

On 909 AI-written and 469 human-written papers it had never seen, it caught 98% of the AI papers and wrongly flagged 0.43% of the human ones. No detector is proof, so treat a flag as a line to look at, not a verdict.

Common questions

Is the AI detector really free?

Yes. Sign in with Google and you get 5 checks a month, up to 20,000 words each.

Does it store my paper?

No. Your paper is deleted when the check finishes and is never used for training.
