What students at Calcutta University usually submit

Typical documents are dissertations, M.Phil and PhD theses, project work and term papers. PaperCheck reads Word and PDF files, skips the certificate, declaration, acknowledgement, tables and references, and scores the running text.

Before you submit

  1. Ask your department which checker is used and what score is accepted. That rule belongs to Calcutta University or your department, not to PaperCheck.
  2. Run PaperCheck a few days early so you have time to rewrite.
  3. Read the flagged sentences and rewrite them in your own words. Keep your numbers, figures and citations.
  4. If the score is still high, the optional Rs 49 reducer rewrites only the flagged lines. Across 109 finished runs it lost 0 of 1,682 citations and the score never went up, with a median drop of about 17 points (our own measurement, on our own detector).

What PaperCheck can and cannot tell you

It gives an estimate from our own detector. On our own test of 1,378 papers it caught 97.7% of AI-written papers and wrongly flagged 0.43% of human-written ones (2 of 469). That test is ours, not independently validated, and it is for whole papers: short essays score much lower. It cannot predict the number your Calcutta University checker will show.
